Hi, thank you for making more templates.  I sell mostly shoes and clothes, and have been trying to migrate to SSB due to the templates.  CUSTOM templates, customizing location of photos, etc. is a big draw.  Although these are pretty, I would like to give honest feedback.  I would be afraid to use many of them, although the models are gorgeous, as the model and template is bigger than the photo of the actual item for sale.  I would not want a customer to be confused by merchandise shown in the template, and the actual merchandise for sale.  The cartoony ones are not very professional looking, and i know most listing services offer those, but I don't use them.  Thank you again for adding these, I'm sure they will be beneficial to some, but I won't be able to use them.  I hope my feedback is helpful, have a nice evening!

hi Eric, are there any of the other templates which would work for your category and would cross over into the clothing/accessories?

I will agree with Eric here.  Although they are very well designed and top notch quality, I believe the photos and section blocks may be a tad too large proportionate to the listing.  I used Blue Motors 1 on a few of my listings today.  While it looks very attractive and professional when previewing it, once loaded to ebay the "Description", "Shipping Terms", and "Payment Terms" boxes are far too large proportionally to the body of the template and description of the item.  Also in agreement that although the cartoons are cute, they are not professional looking for some of us.  I hope someone reviews these comments constructively and corrects these issues.  Otherwise I am not not sure that I will stay with the new designs.  Good work overall though, I'm sure there are plenty of users that will greatly benefit from them.

I am also getting an "Error parsing the template" message after I select the template.  Don't know what it means, but I don't think it's a good thing.

PS  What is SSB and how can we customize the location of the photos?  That is a HUGE plus for me if I can learn where to do that in my custom template.

I just left SSB (SellersSourceBook) and although they have several benefits that I can see your oint son, I have manynmore positives since I have moved here.  Trust me it was a big deal to decide to move.  Greg worked with me all weekend to move all 650+ items from SSB to Ink Frog and I do agree the templates are not quite to quality I was used to, I find that the 1 page listing format is a huge benefit.  SSB is 2, actually almost 3 pages.  You can not list your Giving Works directly into your listing you have to go into eBay and revise each listing to place your Giving Works info.

In regards to the template issue I picked one template for my merge over and have had tons of compliments on having a "branded" template.  Whichj I never intended, I was trying to make it easier on me and greg and his team.  I am now looking to have 1-4 template designed for me to use for all my listings.    I can cover holidays, clothes, toys and a misc...  Iam thrilled here and SSB is not terrible, but they have their own issues trust me.  Just my 2 cents....

First off, I should say that I'm far from the typical eBay seller - I sell high end vintage modern furniture and design. It is a higher end product and very design oriented. Having said that, none of these templates have even the slightest application for me. I have been using the "orange simple" template for years, and none of the new templates released since then have beaten that one in terms of simplicity and unobtrusiveness. It would be nice to have some more simple, less flashy/distracting templates as options.

    Hi Greg,

I sell 99% toys and hobbies. It would be helpful to have some Pro Series templates that deal with the toy industry, such as toy soldiers, toy race cars, diecast cars, robots, model kits, space toys, cap guns and trains, to name a few.

    Thanks for your efforts.

hi all, thanks for the feedback! I completely understand that these templates may not be for everyone and they are currently geared for certain items and categories. Templates are very subjective and everyone has an opinion on them.  If users are interested in seeing more of these (in different types, designs, etc.) then we will definitely build more. We built these certain templates so that users really had something different, and unique - yet very professional.

We will keep an eye out on these and see if a higher level of template is something that we should invest further in.

Very nice templates, just nothing I can use.  I sell collectible items and would need more of an antique theme without having a picture of one particular item.   My categories are Vintage Rock N Roll & Collectible & Horse Figurines, I think it would be a stretch to put my items into any of these templates.

Looking forward to seeing some new ones !

Visually Stunning.. if you are selling in Playboy... or Motor Trend Magazine. In other words... for most of your paying customers... these are gorgeous but useless.

Now... as a paying customer, I'd suggest you look at what your customers are selling... and at least TRY to give them Professional Templates.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, we wanted these to be very specific for certain sellers so they fit specific products! I agree some broader ones maybe nice that more users can use.  I'll see what the demand is and go from there. If we see a large amount of users that really want something like this but in their own style/category etc. These get pretty expensive for us to develop, so I need to see how many users really like this idea.

My issue with the designs (much less the majority of templates) is the use of pictures period. I'd far rather have a template that is built around the layout of my listing than on an included image that may or may not have anything to do with the item I'm selling. Beyond that, if you are looking to create "pro" templates I'd suggest you create ones that allow us to upload our own pictures into the header area. Many of us can design or hire designers and would be more than capable to design into a specific area of the template.

Additionally, we primarily sell electronics and I was disappointed to see the only offering you provide are designs based on cellphones. I'm aware that you serve many customers but that just doesn't cut it. I remain a loyal inkfrog customer... just looking for a better application of the services offered.

    Best of luck!

Surely you jest. You have never produced an acceptable template for hunting, fishing, camping, football, baseball. Certainly nothing as good as the free template provided to eBay Store owners http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390166343251&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

Or the templates designed by Auctiva.

I use Inkfrog because Auctiva has had a bad habit of changing account charges. But I have rolled my eyes many times over the Inkfrog template selections.

And, don't get me started on how time consuming it is to use your insurance feature compared to the eBay application owned by the same insurance company. I'll gladly pay a few cents more per hundred to save having to enter details by hand.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid I agree with the majority here.  I sell high end dollhouse miniatures and books.  Actually, very few of your existing templates are suitable and certainly none of the new series would be even remotely usable for my items.  I would like to see something simple, such as the gold Victorian frame offered by eBay that showcases your item without detracting from it.  I would imagine that very few sellers want templates that call more attention to the template itself than to the items offered for sale. It would be wonderful if you would offer some simple, elegant templates rather than so many large and overpowering ones.

That being said, I stay with InkFrog because your customer service is second to none and that, in my opinion, is the most important thing of all.  I have never had a situation where I was unable to get immediate, professional help.  Thanks for all you do.

What data do you have to enter by hand with our insurance? it's all already in the system (all the information). You can add it in bulk and you shouldn't have to enter any data manually. Can you give me more feedback here? Where do you have to enter data?

I agree all, these templates are and will NOT be for everyone. We are releasing them to see what our feedback is and if this is something we should pursue with other designers and other template types.

If anyone is interested in a custom template (built by Heather) we can do that for a very little amount of money. We don't make money off of those, we just want you with a template you want inside our system.  Anyone interested email heather@inkfrog.com.

Maybe this should be in another forum, but if I want to add insurance to an eBay item, I am always asked to enter the date of shipping and the tracking number. With Shipsurance on eBay, those things are almost always pre filled when I get to the point of adding insurance.

neologist -- so your using ShipSaver on eBay and not through inkFrog? It's the same insurance.

Costs me more on eBay too. But FASTER!

I know this is off topic, but when I use IF insurance none of the tracking #'s carry over.   I used Paypal Multi order shipping to do all labels at once (which uploads to ebay) but doesn't come over to IF.  I can't imagine typing in each tracking #

I look forward to seeing some new Pro templates, and I might even have to email Heather to see what she can do for my own.

    Keep the good stuff comin'

I agree with almost everyone here. Too much flash and nothing really applicable. When I admire listings by others on eBay, they are all straight forward, professional and well laid out. There doesn't need to be as much glitz and glamour. We're selling our items, not your design work. Sorry; we know you tried hard, but I'd say this was a mighty swing with a big miss.

How to use global insert the Pro series template into my existing listing? Is it possible to make more pro template in sports?

  • Avatar
    Greg S.

Hello, we currently do not have a global yet for the pro series templates.

Please add me to those that cannot use the templates.  They wouldn't work with the collectibles I sell, and I need to have simple templates in order to keep the focus on the item, not the template.

I agree that the templates are too flashy and way too busy. I only use about 3 of Inkfrog's basic templates with the large pictures. I want my photos at the side of the description, and you have very few of those. If you could develop some more basic, understated templates, more of us could use them.

    Hi Greg,

I cannot understand why you have missed out the whole entertanments section nothing for CD's DVD's Magazines or any of the other entertanments stuff which is strange as it is the biggest market on ebay.  I think you need to do a survey of what people want.

Hi James, the inkFrog top categories (for our users) we did do -  I agree though that DVD's etc. is another  big category. We wanted to get this out there and see what the interest is and then decide if we should focus resources on developing more.

    Greg,

I agree with James. It seems like a survey of interest would give you a better feel for what is needed, should you decide to expand.

A question.  These new templates, none of which would be suitable for my items by the way, are only for people that have the more expensive plans right?  Does that mean that those of us that chose to stay with the $9.99 plan because the other was of no use to us will no longer be getting any updates to templates?  I use a very basic template...plain stones.... because nothing else works for me, but have held out hope there were new options coming down the pipeline.  Will we lowly $9.99/mo subscribers get any new choices?  Simple, plain, no frills types for us OOAK sellers?

By the way, Thanks for the change to listing order in the library.  I like it!!

CrystallineRainbows -- no that doesn't mean that at all -- the pro series templates are very expensive to make. Standard templates are not really expensive to make at all. In fact, if you wanted a standard custom built template, we can do it for around $50 -- that gives you a custom template that is yours. That is why i really do not like to focus on standard templates. I believe if you want a standard type template, just have one custom made in the way that you like it and nobody else has it. The Pro Series are for a certain customer. A certain type of customer will really like these and you wont find 8 million of them on eBay, which is what we intended.

I think a selection of a dozen or so basic but classy pro series templates would be nice. I currently use one of the "gray basic" ones, as it has full size photos so customers don't have to click to see the item, and it doesn't detract from the images of what we are selling. While I like some of the new Jewelry templates (the girl with the ring looks the best, although she appears naked?, (fine with me but not sure if everyone would be ok with it). We sell a little of everything so none of the current new ones would really work. They seem targeted at people selling specific new items, which is fine, but i would think a few general basic ones would be more useful for more people. (less is more?)

Additionally, while perhaps slightly unrelated, seems glitchy trying to remove old templates and get new ones put in. It would be nicer if this worked better and was more seamless.

A few basic pro series would also be easy to make I would think. Keep in mind you have countless hundreds of specific overly flashy templates, and maybe 5 or 6 dated basic ones. (That still look modern enough to use) Just nicer font and layout would be very useful. From the feedback I am reading here I bet lots of people would agree. Please consider it, thanks!

Say, Black Jewelry 1, just delete the photo and put a nice font for the item title. (nice photo, just very specific)

Perhaps something along those lines with larger photos and the description on the side would also be nice. (Customers don't like clicking photos to make them larger, imho, although mouse over options are ok)
