Old site users - Try the new site again and offer feedback..

Greg S. -

Note, we are NOT closing down the legacy site!! We just want to get feedback to see what users like about our old site to see if we can get that added into our new site.

I wanted to create an announcement on inkFrog and see if we can get some feedback on why we still have many users using our old inkFrog site (note, if you see this and you are not sure which site you use, you probably are already on our new site).

First, please give our new site a try again and then post feedback as to what you don't like and what we can do to get you using our new site!

 Note, we have made huge improvements on our new site since we initially released it. In fact, we have over 8k users a day using it.  It's even working in old browsers like IE 8 (just make sure you use a supported uploader).  Our new site also offers a ton of advantages over our old site.. these include;

1. Ability to 'launch now' and get eBay's multiple images support in the title bar

2. Our inkFrog traffic program which is an incredible program that will start tracking your visits and hits (it's free to all $9.95+ users)

3. Our new template builder (note, our legacy templates are still available too!)

4. A duplicate listings warning in many places

a lot more

If you have not tried our new site out for a while, give it a try and let us know what issues you don't like etc.  I will try to get as many things updated as possible!

thanks

Greg

Update - Wow - you all have given great feedback and please keep it coming. I am monitoring this thread continuously and am working directly with the dev team to get all of these kind of issues resolved (including discussing the possibility of updating the old site with some of the latest eBay enhancements (new item specifics and condition fields for ex.). Stay tuned for updates here.

Update 2 We will be updating our legacy site starting tomorrow to include the new item conditions field, as well as updated item specifics. This will allow everyone to continue launching from the legacy site. Note, I highly recommend everyone use the legacy site 'schedule' option instead of the 'launch now' for now. This will ensure the images (multi images) get input into eBay's title bar section. I'll see what we can do regarding the launch now and this functionality

Update 3 The Condition Description option has been added into the legacy lister! You shoud be able to use it at will - post if you find any issues with it. You will see it once you choose an eligible category.  Next up, item specifics!

Update 4 We are releasing the new, updated item specifics for 50% of legacy customers right now. Please give them a try and let us know if there are any issues. With this update, the legacy lister is compliant with all of eBay's changes except for the Global Shipping Platform.

Update 5 I appreciate everyone's feedback on this thread. We will be releasing many updates throughout the next few weeks and months based on your suggestions. Hold tight as we will roll these out as we complete them! We also hope to have the catalog/prefill system back in place on the legacy site (currently the catalog/prefill is not functional in legacy) by Tuesday, June 15th

Update 6 100% of users now have the new catalog finder. We are also working on adding eBay EPS (picture services) for the 'launch now' option in the legacy lister. This means that using the 'launch now' in legacy will input the multiple "gallery/title bar" pictures in the top left of eBay's item pages. We hope to have that update released shortly.

I have difficulty using images and inserting them into auctions, often images are also very slow to load and I just give up in the end. Currently if I had to use the new site I would close me account.

    Greg -

Still waiting for the new site to have Globals to add in the templates from the Template Creator done on the new site.  Seems kind of silly to have Globals in the new site for inserting/changing templates, but they do not apply to templates done in the new site, only Legacy templates.

As soon as you get that Global, I'm gone from the old site.  I can change over the 2000 or so older auction listings I use from the old site, and they can join the 800+ done since last year on the new site and currently loading/running through the new site.

Wish I could do Highwire, but the Compatibility isn't really going to be much better as far as I can see, so the extra cost isn't justified at this point.

At our workplace, we've tried both versions extensively and all of our listers prefer the older site.  In fact, if the older iteration of the site would allow the Custom Label/SKU field to be edited after scheduling an auction, there would be literally no benefits (for our needs) that the new site offers over the latter.

Specifically regarding the new site, the text was too light and hard to read, the order of the fields made less sense for the way we construct our auctions, and the image uploader was somehow even more likely to either fail, take too long, or reorder our pictures.  Another issue is that when listing many similar items, the old site allowed users to simply change the SKU and the title to create a new auction (which was fast and efficient).  The new site forces you to create an entirely new auction from scratch, which is more time consuming and pointless.  When trying to list using the same methods as on the old site for like items, you just end up editing the same auction multiple times while still only having one scheduled.

In the new version,  images are also very slow to load and I just give up in the end. Currently if I had to use the new site I would close my account also. I also hate how it forces you to use inventory control as default. Why not make "Don't use inventory" the default.  I would say overall, the old site is much faster.

Loading pictures is slow compared to old site.  Also, I like that you can see whether you have launched an item.

First, note - we are not forcing anyone to use the new site -- we just want to get whatever issues are left resolved in the new site (and hope you will want to then use it!)

Ok.. I'm seeing the biggest issue here is that images do not load or load slowly. Note, our new site does take 'larger' images -- meaning, it will keep them larger. The reason is that eBay prefers them larger at this point. This does cause some of the images to upload slower, however the end result is a larger image which eBay is really pushing.

Can you all let me know which uploader you are using that you like BETTER in the old version? Do you all upload from the 'lister' directly or do you upload from the images section?

My problem was the listing page and I tried it at least a half-dozen times.  Why make things more complicated for all.   I will stay with the old site as it works best for me.   We have had a real busy year with real serious problems and do not need anything else to deal with.   Sales are down with e-bay and if we are forced to move, you may loose customers.

Loading photos is too slow when trying to create a new listing with the new site.  I've tried several times-- and I wait, and wait, and wait.  I can't afford to wait about 60 seconds for photos to load with each listing.  So I create new listings with the old site, which brings up the photos very quickly.

You wanted feedback-- here it is.  Whatever system you used on the old site to bring up photos to select, use that on the new site, and your users will go there.  If you end up not improving the photo loading, and no longer allow use of the old site, I'll have to find another auction lister.

I agree with the feedback given; I list items that are different, sometimes one at a time.  The old site is much quicker in uploading photos and has a "tighter" more compact look and feel to it.  If I were to have to use the new inkfrog site I also would look elsewhere for another listing program.

    HI Greg-

With the old site, I click on Upload Images, and the default method is Flash, which I use.  I have a couple thousand photos in the local directory, and the thumbnails show up very quickly, so I can select whichever images I want to import.

New site, I click on Upload Images, and I get a window that doesn't have any options I can see.  Thumbnails upload very very slowly, and I can't select until they've all resolved. So I have to log out, log in on the old site, and do the listing there,

I just now tried it again, no improvement.

I've used the new site for most things - but adding the images was WAY too difficult and slow - so much better on old site - I can go straight to a paid and click "select" versus waiting through so many pages on new site.  Also downloading  of images was too hard on new site - so use old site for that.

Greg--  It's not the actual upload time I'm talking about-- I can't even get that far in the process.  In the lister, when trying to select images, the thumbnails take forever to resolve.  So I'm unable to select the images to upload in a reasonable time.

Time is money, as they say.

I have difficulty seeing what I'm typing just signing in. Can't see what I'm typing as font too light and its a waste of my time so I'm sticking with the old until the font is made larger and more contract so we can SEE it without struggling. Other than that, the new site is fine.

Everyone here is mainly complaining about images which is interesting. If we could fix the image uploader to work as fast as the 'old' site for you, would you then use the new site? Is there anything else which is really holding you back?

I noticed a few are mentioning default inventory and a few issues like that...

i'm guessing you mean the font inside the textboxes? (meaning, the font that you type in ?)

I don't use inventory.  And I've been unable to get an item listed with the new site, due to the slow loading of the photos, so no way of telling what other problems there might be.

I'll note that I have to use the new site to "import live listings to library" since that's no longer available on the old site.

And I see that the new site has the option to fill in the Item Condition Details, which isn't available on the old site.  That's a feature I'd use-- currently I have to do that through eBay directly by revising the listing.

Hey Dan - i'll see about adding that global -

regarding highwire and compatibilities - we have added that as a CSV in Highwire (not sure if you tried the csv option yet?)

Greg-- I tried again 5 min ago using the new site to create a new listing.  Photo thumbnails are still resolving, in a small window.  About 20 thumbnails appear, then it stops, and you have to push a button that says "See More?"  than wait for another 20 to resolve, then push, then wait.  I't's been about 8 minutes now, and I still cannot select a single photo to upload.  Blah.

Old site, flash, they resolve almost instantly, even with a directory with tons of photos.

I also have issues with the slow speed on the image uploads.  Also, the images do not show up in the numbered order that I have assigned the images unless I do extra steps....ie deleting them from the listing and then selecting them again after sorting them by number, etc.  I also don't like all the extra fields that I have to skip through to get to the fields that I need to use.  There were some other annoying issues but I cannot recall them.  The photos are definitely the biggest issue!

After you schedule a listing in the new version, you receive a pop-up that says go to schedule or OK. Those are the only 2 choices. In the legacy version it gave me a choice to go to the "Listings" which is what I want to do. In the new version, I have to press OK then scroll up all the way to the top pf the page and goto listings. Or press pg up on my keyboard etc. Regardless, extra steps, waste of time especially if you are reviewing and scheduling 50+ items at night.

Also, in the New version as well as legacy version, when you schedule a duplicate, by mistake, there are no warnings and once again, we get the dreaded ebay notice. It is still HARD for me to believe that this issue continues on despite repeated pleas for a fix. I can schedule 10 duplicates of the same item and there will be no warnings in the Legacy as well as the new and improved New versions.

Please add the choice functionality to the post schedule pop up as well as perhaps some subtle duplicate warning system when scheduling listings and I will start using the new format immediately.

I see comments about images and I can't test that out right now because I don't have any listings ready to go. But as soon as I start using the New version, I will also add my comments about the photo issues if any...

    Thanks

I don't have problems with images loading. its the very small font and light contract of the color of the font I type inside the boxes (yes, as you commented) and yes, my eyesight is normal for my age! :-)  I'm doing some listing and trying to give it another try or two.

HI Greg - I tried the new one last year when it first appeared then again a few months ago and it added time to my creating each ad so I reverted to the legacy version both times. i just tried again and it seems the problem was fixed (photos going into the library and not directly posting to the ad).

There are a lot of features in the new lister that I don't need as I sell one of a kind items and never have multiple copies or re-stock. I am used to the legacy version and it works fine for me, I will try the new one again later in the week to see if it makes my listings easier and faster, but for now I am glad you are keeping the legacy version active.
