Introducing our new lister..

Hi folks, this is Greg Sisung the CEO of inkFrog. I wanted to make a quick post and let you know about our brand new lister which has been in development for quite a long time. It's the fastest lister we've ever made and I'm extremely proud of the team! I'd love for you all to help us get this ready for prime time, so we are releasing it in BETA for you to try out and send us feedback.

Note, there are many changes to this new lister and things which are slightly different. Please play around with it a while and learn the differences. A few of these differences are below:

1. We've moved our template builder to the 'designs' tab. Please use this section to build your templates. You can then select the template you built directly from the new lister.

2. Our new lister is compliant with all of eBay's latest. The options you see on the lister are(should be) updated with eBay's latest allowable options. Our classic lister still has some outdated information on it. If you do not see the function/feature that you are looking for on the new lister, make sure you check with eBay first to see that it's still available. One example of this is package types, our classic lister still shows old options while our new lister is updated.

3. Lister settings/preferences.. you will now be able to set your own lister preferences using the icon on the bottom left of the nav bar. Please click on this icon to set yours. One of the main preferences is if you want the popup (preview) to be in a popup window or not.

 

4. You can now add separate images to each variation! yeahhh. I know this has been a requested feature for quite some time.

 

5. We've updated much more of the site and overall performance should be much quicker.

 

Please play around with it a bit and get a feel for the updates. Post your feedback and bugs here and we will post directly to your questions and issues and get bugs resolved quickly.

    @ marvelparadise - can you give me more details? I can't recreate this.. what browser are you using? Can you post some screenshots ?

    @marvelparadise, try now.. we found and fixed the issue.. it was a Firefox issue.

    Hi Greg, When you edit a listing with Inkfrog that is up, there is either a delay or you cant open up your images still. This has been bad for a long time with InkFrog regardless of browsers, cleaning cookies,etc. You just cant edit images fast no matter what pc or browser I am on. Also I have been asking for many years to have more options for the shipping section. You allow just 3 for US, and 3 options for international. This is not nearly enough as if you edit with eBay they allow 5 and 5 with the options. So that means I have to edit with Inkfrog and then after with eBay to have these options. Then if I edit with Inkfrog on a listing after, when it revise the listing it will DELETE the last 2 shipping options that I had with eBay because it saves just 3 when you edit with Inkfrog. This is a nightmare believe me and I wish you could just add more options for shipping so I can have my customers choose many ways with Inkfrog, This is SUPER important Greg to sellers. Other than that, keep up the great work as the rest is awesome!!

    @Saveabuckenterprises we just fixed shipping options to comply with the standard on eBay: A seller can offer up to four domestic shipping services and up to five international shipping services.

    In the description section is it possible to make the full box to be able to click and drag up and down to change the size of the box? It is rather small for those who HTML code frequent. It is a lot of scrolling to find code or get to the code line you are looking for. Thank you.

    Also when in wysiwyg mode and switch to preview mode in separate pop up, all of the text that is written is centered in the pop up preview but left justified in the wysiwyg editor. I have no code that is centering the text. The current version of inkfrog displays correctly. Thank you.

    2 More things. Prior version you could select FastNFree in the shipping section. If you list and this option is not there in the beta version and you are completing same day shipping expedited as I do, will the listing still show fastnfree on ebay?

    #2 At the end of the template listings or listing you are creating there use to be a check box that said, "I want to send a Winning Bidder Email to my buyer using email template:"? Are all the autoemails all automatic now without having to select the option previously before?

    First look and so far I like what I see. Nice clean design. I like the bolder colors much better than the washed-out look, and like where you've placed the pay and shipping options. However, I would like to see a few tweaks. Most of them should be pretty minor.

    Listings area still does not scroll independently. This is something I've been complaining about ever since you dumped the OLD legacy lister. If you are scrolling to the bottom of a long column of listings, selecting some to move, update or remove, then you have to scroll back UP in order to apply the option. This is unnecessary scrolling and not user friendly. The bar with the options buttons should stay within the user's view at all times.

    Another thing I've been requesting for a long time is to highlight ALL listings when the "select" box is checked, maybe with bands of contrasting color. For older people it is very easy to miss checking the tiny box (though maybe not as easy now that there's more contrast) and it would be user friendly to have a way of making it more obvious that a listing has been selected. Removing ALL the highlights has been a step in the wrong direction.

    There is STILL no option for inserting a special character in the WYSIWYG view! If I want to insert a copyright symbol (for instance as part of a signature) or a maker's name like Hobé, I either have to type the description in a word processor and paste it in, or go into the code and enter the html. You used to have a "special characters" button; it has mysteriously disappeared and it needs to come back.

    Item Specifics: I notice that if a "custom" value is entered for an item specific, the user is prompted to "please select" something from the dropdown. That wouldn't be nearly so annoying if the item specifics lists weren't woefully incomplete. For vintage jewelry, the "brand" list ends at Givenchy, omitting such important brands as Juliana, Miriam Haskell, Hattie Carnegie, Kenneth Jay Lane, Trifari, Lisner and Weiss. For "Main Stone," it ends at Cubic Zirconia, omitting all kinds of imitation stones as well as turquoise, rhodocrosite, lapis lazuli, ruby, emerald, sapphire, pearl... do you see how irritating this is going to be for sellers? If you're getting this list from eBay, get onto them to do their jobs and complete the lists.

    A notice that the category supports multi-variation listings is all well and good, but it does NOT have to be in red. People are accustomed to viewing notices in red as being things that require urgent, immediate action. I don't need to have my adrenaline triggered by a notice that is not applicable to my listings each and every time I list.

    Something that SHOULD be in red or otherwise called to a user's attention, however, is anything that can cost a user additional fees. I notice that there is no such notice for Subtitle, Second Category, or Gallery Plus. Even the "attention" line at the bottom of the list of "listing enhancements" is not really sufficient. These fees are fixed amounts and should be next to the item IN RED, such as "$1.00 additional fee."

    The beta is not picking up second international shipping options. I have Small Priority Flat Rate Box as a second international option on all my jewelry listings, and it's in my profiles: they are not being picked up.

    I don't know how important this is, but zeroes in the "pounds" shipping weight field are showing up as blanks. This may be a "default value" thing, but generally blanks are not a good idea.

    End of listing rules seem to be turned on by default? This one might be my doing; I never use them but I'm really not sure what my settings are.

    And finally (not really about the beta), my eternal complaint about the lack of a hex code, RBG or HSL specific color picker in the "lister template" creator and general lack of access to the code. I'd love to have a mobile-optimized template, but the one you've got is too difficult to use and simply won't do.

    @bluedaemon -- I'm going to try and triage your post with what I see as the most important thing first which is shipping issue of something not showing up correctly.. Can you tell me which listing you are not seeing your 'small priority flat rate' show up in? I see it perfectly in your account in beta as well as in our current site. Do you have an specific item that you can send me or a screenshot ?

    Not particularly. I took a look at a few of my existing library listings just to see what the lister looked like, and only saw one shipping option show up under International - this on EVERY listing I looked at. Pick a jewelry listing, any jewelry listing - the lister only displays one INTERNATIONAL shipping option not two. Note this is in my LIBRARY, not in live listings. Take a look at http://app4.inkfrog.com/lister#/update/saved/134370306, which is a relatively recent listing.

    All my jewelry listings have, or are supposed to have, the following shipping options: DOMESTIC: First Class Mail (free) and Small Priority Flat Rate Box (calculated). INTERNATIONAL: First Class Mail International and Small Priority Flat Rate Box (both calculated). It's in all my jewelry profiles that way.

    The DOMESTIC options show up on the lister, but only INTERNATIONAL only my first option shows up and there should be two.

    When I select upload image button (just under the categories), the window comes up but it is the insert image window vs. the upload one. When I select the upload button in that window, the images actually get uploaded into the description area vs. just under the categories section. Thanks!

    @ bluedaemon23 - there is only one international shipping set for that item. .see the old lister and the new one -- both show just one (non beta site shows just one too) unless i'm crazy ? I do see two domestic shipping options.

    @onesweetcottageway - you will not lose your data using 'preview' if you use the 'back' option that is located on the lister itself. Did you use that button? Also, in your lister preferences from the bottom left of the bottom navbar you can set your listing to use a 'popup' preview instead of the new page preview. Choose that and you wont have any issues.

    @malica98 - the pictures option is located at the very top (way above the category selector). Are you choosing the wrong picture option? Can you explain to me your steps? are you trying to add a new

    1. We will be working on the 'Listings' area pretty soon and bring better user experience.
    2. Special characters: good idea, we will see how we can bring it back.
    3. Item specifics lists: we will try to work on the complete lists.
    4. 'notice that the category supports multi-variation listings', good idea - it's blue now.
    5. unfortunately eBay has different fees for different marketplaces, which our lister supports. Moreover, eBay changes fees from time to time providing discounts to different sellers.
    6. international shipping options should be fixed by now - we found the bug this morning.
    7. zeroes in the "pounds" - you can update your default profile so they would show up as preset.
    8. we just show post sale rules so you know they are there and you can use them.

    Thanks again for your feedback. I know there are more suggestions, and it would be great if you provide them and talk about your experiences along the recommendations.

    I meant below the store categories. Anyway, I select upload image. The window that pops up is the window that shows what images are on your system instead of the file upload window. You have to select the upload button in that window to actually get to the upload window. Once I find the images I want to upload, the pictures actually go into my description instead of being added below the "Add Images" button. I hope that makes sense.

    1. international visibility option is dependent on the category you use. If you still don't see it, please let us know the category #.

    2. "Winning Bidder Email" and Gallery Showcase options will be on a separate page very soon when you can pre-set them for all listings.

    3. GetItFast option is behind the scenes and is set to true if you provide the first domestic shipping options as expedited and set handling time to 0 or 1 Days.

    1. In the Beta lister, the default Profile that shows up is one that I deleted quite a while ago....wrong username (and I have the proper one checked off as I go into Listings, I checked), old template etc.

    2. No cut and paste in the body of the listing.

    nothing more to report since at that point I gave up for the night. :)

    When trying to mark an item as shipped & send an email out to the buyer, with USPS as the carrier in the update status function, the system returns this error:

    Your request(s) have errors. Please review and fix the errored items and try them again

    I suspect it is because I don't have a tracking number. I very rarely have tracking numbers for ebay as I mail stamps in #10 envelopes, for which no tracking is available. If this is what's causing the error, I need to be able to mark USPS as the carrier w/o providing a tracking number.

    It won't let me save a listing unless all the fields are filled. I needed to go into my images manager and tried to save an item to the library. I had not filled in the "new/used" box yet. When I went to save it, a pop-up box came up and it wouldn't let me until I put in a dummy picture and filled out the condition.

    This is fine to keep one from submitting an incomplete listing, but it's not necessary and is frustrating to be blocked from saving it for later. I'll often write up parts of listings and not fill the form completely, only to come back to them later. This will prevent that.
